Since the Hells Angels arrived, I have been watching law enforcement, and it occurs to me the police are more of a public safety hazard than the motorcycle club. I was coming home from work early yesterday morning, and I had to drive around a Minnesota State Highway Patrol car and a county deputy vehicle. The peace officers were parked in the road talking.
Law enforcement has been using intimidation and harassment tactics to keep the Hells Angels “in line.” Police park right outside the entrance of the Lost Isle, the bar at the center of the Hells Angels’ visit.
Police are hurting local business, too. Who wants to stop at a bar for a drink when there are five police cars parked out front and blocking the gas pumps with officers just talking? A cashier or someone else from the gas station had to ask them to move on.
In my opinion, the police are abusing the powers granted to them. We need a police presence, not the Gestapo. As long as the Hells Angels are not causing problems, let sleeping dogs lie. As a local, I am not happy with the way this is being handled.
