Hells Angel Jørn Jønke Nielsen said he felt like he was the victim of a character assassination following the drawn out process leading to his trial

Hells Angel Nielsen has been acquitted on the charge of grievous bodily harm, stemming from a fight in December 2007 in which he stabbed another man.

The Copenhagen City Court found both Nielsen and his friend Esben Hertz not guilty and agreed that their stabbing of the man in Nørrebro had been in self defence.

During the altercation, Nielsen received serious stab wounds to the stomach and groin. The 22-year-old immigrant man responsible for the wounding of Nielsen and his comrade was found guilty of serious assault and could now face up to 10 years imprisonment.

The case attracted a lot of attention as Nielsen was remanded to custody for 10 months and refused to submit to a psychological evaluation. The prosecution argued that he could not be released as he was a danger to society. He eventually secured his release last October.

‘This is a victory for me and the rest of the Hells Angels, but I felt like I was persecuted by the public prosecutor and that I was the victim of character assassination,’ Nielsen said to BT newspaper after walking free from the courthouse.
